JD's new love!

This past Saturday night, we were looking for something to do for the evening and decided it was time to let JD try putt-putt golf. He absolutely loves his toy golf set that he has here at home, and he turns every stick he finds outside into a golf club. Needless to say, he was in heaven at the putt-putt course!

He had such an intense look on his face each time he stepped up to putt the ball, and he counted, "One...two...three...GO!" before swinging his club. He had complete strangers cracking up laughing. He was by far the youngest golfer there that night!

Each time he knocked his ball in the hole, he would exclaim, "I did it, Daddy!" and he cheered for JD Sr, "Yay, you did it, Daddy" any time he made a successful putt.

We had a great time and can't wait to go back again soon. JD has talked about going back at least a dozen times since Saturday!

Our Little Man...

Here are some recent pictures of JD that I thought were worth sharing. The first set are pictures I took of him falling asleep as he ate dinner the other night. This is the result of a day without a nap! He was absolutely wiped out by evening, and with each bite of food, his eyes grew heavier and heavier until he just had to surrender. Too funny!

The next set of photos are of him standing on his step-stool in front of our bathroom sink brushing his teeth. The boy loves to brush his teeth, and I can't complain about that, I suppose! Notice the jelly all over his face as he turned to show me his freshly scrubbed choppers. He had just finished eating breakfast when he came upstairs to take care of his dental hygiene. Oh, and GUESS WHAT?? He is now sitting on the toilet and trying to *ahem* "tinkle". We've been putting him on the toilet a couple of times a day for about a week now and showing him where to point a certain part of his body, and he's doing great! Last night, I was sitting at the computer, and he came running up to me and said, "Mama, wanna tee-tee in the big boy toilet?" I immediately took him to the bathroom, where he sat proudly and then sad, "All done!" He has not officially done anything except sit on the toilet in the ready position, but hey, it's a HUGE start as far as I'm concerned!

The last two photos are of a completely exhausted JD who had just returned home from the park where he acquired two very skinned knees. We came home, he had a bubble bath to clean his battle wounds (the playground won, by the way), and then he crashed after receiving two medals of honor (a.k.a. smiley face band-aids)! :^)

He's growing up so very fast!

A date with my sweet little boy...

We have had some wonderful weather here lately - clear blue skies, sunshine, and cool breezes - so I decided to take advantage of one such day and treat JD jr to lunch at CiCi's pizza followed by an exploration of Reynolda Gardens, which are simply gorgeous!

JD had such a good time at lunch. The staff at CiCi's was so friendly, and it's apparently their routine to yell, "Aaaaayyyyy, welcome to CiCi's!" each time someone walks in the door. JD began to notice this pattern and would crack up laughing every time he heard the soon familiar phrase being belted across the restaurant. He LOVED the macaroni and cheese topped pizza...no surprise there! They had a large, flat-screen television which was tuned in to Dora the Explorer...another big hit with JD. He ate as much as a grown man and then spent a few minutes looking at their selection of gumball and toy machines before we headed to the gardens.

JD really enjoyed running through the gardens, but I had to show him where he was allowed to walk. There were signs posted to indicate the paths that visitors are expected to use while touring the gardens. In other words, please don't allow your 2-year-old son to trample our prized flowers! :^)

He did a great job of staying off of the flower beds, and after we saw all of the outdoor gardens, we went inside the greenhouse where we saw plants and flowers that were so large and impressive that they looked as though they came from the rain forests!

It was a nice and relaxing way to enjoy a spring day!
