The Fair's in Town!

The annual Dixie Classic Fair is here in Winston-Salem right now, and we took JD on Friday night. This was actually the 2nd year that we've gone, but he was only 7 months old the first time we went and wasn't even walking yet! Wow...what a difference a year makes!

We had a great time walking around looking at all of the different rides, food, music, animals, and people.

JD loved looking at the animals in the petting zoo, especially the zebra and the camel, but he wasn't very interested in touching them. He drew his hand back a couple of times when the goats stuck their heads through the fence looking for food. I was actually relieved that he didn't want to touch them because they were not very clean, to say the least.

He also had a great time dancing to the bluegrass music (see photo), and he was quite a hit with the people who were watching him show his moves.

Before we left, we watched the Demolition Derby, which neither JD Sr nor I had ever seen before. It was very exciting to watch, and JD jr was just frozen with amazement as he watched two cars crash into each other with squealing tires and smoke pouring out of the engines.

We plan to return this coming weekend, which is also the last weekend it will be here before closing down until next year.
